This onboarding process will connect your Stripe account to your Mailchimp audience, enabling seamless synchronization of customer data and product information. The following steps are designed to be straightforward, with clear guidance to help you get started quickly.

Step 1: Select Your Audience and Marketing Permissions Begin by choosing the Mailchimp audience where your Stripe customer data will be synced. This audience will serve as the central hub for managing your customer information within Mailchimp.
Next, specify how new customers will be added to this audience. You have three options to ensure compliance and alignment with your marketing strategy:
Double Opt-In: New customers receive a confirmation email to opt in before being added as subscribers. This option helps ensure they’re ready to engage with your communications.
Subscribed: Customers are immediately added as active subscribers, ready to receive your marketing emails.
Non-Subscribed (Transactional): Customers are added to your audience but won’t receive marketing emails until their status is updated. This is ideal for organizing data without initiating immediate outreach.
Step 2: Set Up a Mailchimp Store for Product Syncing Create a Mailchimp store to sync your Stripe products and customer transactions with the corresponding contacts in your audience. The store operates in the background, enabling you to segment your audience based on product purchases or spending history.
Choose a name for your Mailchimp store or stick with the default name. The name doesn't have an impact on how the store works, but it is a means of identifying the store in your audience when analyzing a contact's spending history.
Important note: For products to exist in your Mailchimp store, their prices must be in the same currency as your Stripe account. For example, if your Stripe account uses USD, only products priced in USD will sync to the store.
You can also opt to sync historical data, which will import past customers and their transactions from Stripe into your Mailchimp audience. This feature provides a comprehensive view of customer activity from the outset.
Sync duration: Depending on the size and age of your Stripe account, syncing historical data may take several hours. You can continue using the application during this process, and a notification will appear on the settings page once the sync is complete.
If you prefer to set up the store later, you can skip this step and configure it at a time that works best for you.
Optional Step: Choose Customer Details to Sync Select which customer information to sync from Stripe to Mailchimp, such as name, phone number, or address. This ensures your Mailchimp audience reflects the most current customer data.
Note: If a customer already exists in your Mailchimp audience, the synced details from Stripe will overwrite the existing information in their contact profile. For example, an updated address in Stripe will replace the address stored in Mailchimp.
You can skip this step if you don’t wish to sync additional details now and revisit the settings later as needed.
